For IP Awareness: Andes Virus 🦠

Following reports of a hantavirus/Andes virus cluster associated with cruise ship travel, we're sharing CDC Appendix A guidance for healthcare teams.

Andes virus is the only type of hantavirus known to spread person-to-person, though this is rare and generally associated with close contact with someone who is ill.

CDC Appendix A includes patient placement and PPE recommendations for suspected or confirmed Andes virus in healthcare settings. 🏥

APIC DFW Members!

Have you ever asked, "Does my patient need to be in Contact Precautions forever?" Answer: Maybe not.

Please take a moment to complete the APIC DFW Chapter Resistant Organism Isolation Practices survey aimed at better understanding of current practices across DFW healthcare settings related to isolation, duration, and discontinuation for patients colonized or actively infected with an MDRO(s). Results will be shared back with the chapter in aggregate and if we receive enough responses may put us in a position to publish as a chapter!

Scan the QR Code or Use the link to access the survey! Survey will close next Thursday, April 30th!
