Here’s what the data shows about the housing market...
For sellers: In March 2024, U.S. home prices were up 4.8% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $420,321.
While today’s rates are high compared to pandemic times, lower inventory is still keeping sellers in the driver’s seat in most markets.
Sellers keep in mind, inventory rises the longer interest rates are held high. You have the upper hand (for now).
For buyers: In the April meeting, the Fed decided not to introduce rate cuts, however, experts predict a 50% probability that come September 2024, they could be on the agenda.
Until then, as home inventory increases we could see downward pressure on price, benefitting buyers.
