Despite the efforts of many gathering this morning to protest at City Hall this morning the Dallas City Council voted (15-0) in favor of having strip clubs close at 2AM.

Congrats to Dirk Nowitzki who got his jersey retired tonight by the Mavs. He’s still the greatest Maverick to ever put on that jersey. Im looking forward to seeing the day that Mark Cuban puts up that statue outside of American Airlines. It’s well deserved as Dirks loyalty to the franchise, his demeanor, his work ethic, skillset and everything he put in to bring a championship to Dallas was so inspiring to see growing up here. Even though I’m still heartbroken from that 2006 NBA Finals where I feel like the refs cheated for the Miami Heat. I’ll never get over I think it was my first heartbreak before women started doing it. But luckily he brought one to the city in 2011. But congratulations to 41!!!!!!

Again congratulations to the South Oak Cliff Golden Bears Football Team ( ) for winning the state title! They had people lining up for the parade today before it even started around 11:00 AM today. After the Golden Bears capped off their big win over Central Texas Liberty Hill over the weekend. They ended up winning by a score of 23-14. It’s the first time since 1950 that a team from Dallas ISD has won the state title. It’s such a proud moment for the city and you could just see it in the faces of the players and the Oak Cliff community that attended the parade as well. Just to see them finish the job and go the distance means a lot for the city to a lot of people. Further proving that Dallas has a winning culture that can get it done!

I'm shocked by the news. R.I.P to the one the best to ever do it in Bell Hooks. I never got the chance to meet her, unfortunately, but she introduced me to the idea of feminism and patriarchal masculinity and the effects and that has on the fabric of our society. She had such a bright mind and embodied what love truly is.
-
Her writing was so impactful and inspired a lot of people including myself to be the person that I am today. I'm forever thankful for all her work and everything she has put into making her books that have influenced many I'm sure. She created an avenue for me personally to learn how to heal myself and go against the paradigm that tells you that you’re only a man if you’re tough or you don’t show emotions. I'll go back and re-read some of her books that I own just to refresh myself and I'm always left amazed by her writing ability. You can tell throughout the chorus of her life she spent a lot of time self-reflecting and looking inside herself to be to craft and put out things that were true to her. She's helped me so much just being able to navigate through a world that tells you that it’s not okay to cry as a male or express your emotions openly. To the point where I don't care how I'm perceived as long, I'm mentally upright. However, I’m deeply saddened by the news it'ss so unfortunate. (1952-2021) 🖤🙏🏾

I stumbled upon this from Jillian Turecki and what she shared is so Important. BecauseI have to remind myself constantly of this to. Because at times people like myself find themselves believing that they can “save people” by loving them when in reality the burden will still always fall on them to do the work.
-
I always try to remember that everyone is trying their best. No one is perfect including myself. And that it’s not my job to save anyone nor should I shoulder the responsibility of doing so. Even if your a person that prides yourself on helping people all the time or feel like the love you give is special it doesn’t matter. All you can do is love people where they’re at within friendship/relationship dynamics. Allow people to be themselves. Understand that everyone comes into wisdom and understanding on their own at their own pace. You learn over time that you shouldn’t try to to force people to change even if you feel like it will lead to them being more content and becoming the best version of themselves. Because sometimes by doing so it will result in that person either resenting you or you doing things that are out of your nature or against your character to try to save them. If they really wanted to change then they will do that when they’re ready and if not then that doesn’t make them any less of a person because they won’t. You should love them just the same regardless even if it’s from a distance. That’s why it’s important to love people unconditionally and without expectations.
