WIP
Details of current piece from my
Somatic Journaling series 🖼️🎨

I post primarily to Instagram
And am not the best at keeping up with FB!

Texture has become an increasingly important part of my practice. Layers of paint and Venetian plaster build surfaces that hold both history and change, revealing traces of the decisions made along the way.

Much of my work emerges through observation, allowing color, texture, and form to evolve through the process of painting itself.

I am continually drawn to the tension between what can be clearly seen and what is only felt.
Layered surfaces, shifting forms, and traces of gesture become a way of navigating that space.

Layers of color, texture, and gesture come together in paintings that move between abstraction and figuration.

My paintings explore embodiment, perception, and human connection through layers of color, texture, and gesture. Moving between abstraction and figuration, each work emerges from a process of observation, discovery, and reflection.

Flashback Friday: Revisiting an older work titled JOY that explores love, spirituality, and allowing for joy to breathe within the heart.

“Joy is a rebellious act in a society built on scarcity and fear. Be a rebel.” - Kristin Warms

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

“Paint NTX is an exhibition that highlights the work of thirty-two painters from throughout the North Texas region (plus one or two guest artists from other regions of Texas). Together, these artists reflect the richness and range of contemporary painting practices, offering a compelling snapshot of how this time-honored medium continues to evolve through distinct voices and individual visions” (from https://bathhouse.dallasculture.org/paintntx-info/)
