http://www.cunninghamarchitects.com/ Cunningham Architects began in 1981 as a small office offering architecture and planning services.

While the firm has grown and evolved over the years in experience and expertise, it remains a focused group of talented and accomplished designers, each bringing their own brand of excellence to the story. Our qualifications are based on a blend of broad and well-rounded experiences, unique and appropriate designs, and inspired vision.

“The museum has as many moods as there are moments in time, and never. . . will there be a single day like the other.” – Architect Louis I. Kahn, born in 1901 🎉

In October 1966, Kahn received the commission to design the Kimbell Art Museum. From the moment it opened in October 1972, it was deemed not only the apotheosis of Kahn’s ever-evolving ideas about the architectural union of light and structure, but also one of the finest art museums ever built.

Dive deeper into Kahn’s vision for the Kimbell, view some of his early sketches and models, and learn more about the light, structure, and materials on our 50th anniversary interactive special exhibition: https://50.kimbellart.org/architecture/the-louis-i-kahn-building/
