What an amazing weekend! So happy to hang out with my favs and enjoy watching my son and the The PVAMU Marching Storm during the battle of the bands with Grambling State University. I love black excellence and this event always brings out the best from both HBCUs.

Synopsis:
This groundbreaking stage play gives the audience a glimpse of what it could possibly look like if black American descendants of slaves were each awarded 1.2 million dollars. The question on everyone’s mind is, “What will they do with the money?” Different scenarios are visited while following the lives of a group of acquaintances. Reparations will ignite conversations as many thought-provoking opinions are shared on stage for the audience to digest.
Characters:
Deven - Black American Male in his late 20s-30s - Warehouse supervisor. Deven left school to be with his mother after his father's untimely death. Deven is a thinker and very level-headed and would be considered an "old soul" due to his responsible nature.
Malik - Black American Male in his 30s - Barbershop owner. He is what we would call "woke" or "pro-black". He is very knowledgeable about black heritage and history. He is very active in his community and believes in building black lives by spreading knowledge.
Kendrick - Black American Male in his 30s - Warehouse worker. He is very comical and is all about having fun in life. He loves to have a good time hanging out and being a woman's man even though he lives with his girlfriend/baby's mama Keisha.
Makhi - Black American Male in his 30s - Street hustler and brother of Malik. His outlook on life is to get yours or be gotten. He and his brother were brought up in the same household, and taught the same valuable lessons by their father, but are complete opposites. He is not a bad person but makes most of his decisions based on street knowledge.
Carol - Black Woman in her late 40s or older - Retired widow. She is Deven's mother and is a God-fearing woman. She spends a lot of time (and money) at church even more so since the passing of her husband. She has a close relationship with her pastor and does whatever she can to support her church.
Pastor Williams - Black Male or Female in his/her 40s or older - Founder of a mega church and has several thousand members. He is known for his flamboyance, wearing tailor-made suits, driving fancy cars, and living in a mansion. He does a lot of good in the community, but some of his actions are marked by greed.
Kyle - White Male in his 30s-40s - Warehouse Operations Manager and owner's son. He is married to Jessica, a black woman, and has two bi-racial daughters. He has mixed feelings about Reparations, and it is causing hardship in his marriage and business.
Jessica - Black Woman in her 30s - Housewife - she is married to Kyle and the mother of two bi-racial daughters. She is trying to hold her marriage together while at the same time staying true to her blackness which wasn't a real issue until the reparation payments.
Oson - African Male in his 30s-40s - Warehouse Supervisor. Oson is Nigerian and has been in the U.S. for 15 years. He works at the warehouse with Deven, and they often clash. Oson is upset because of the reparation payments not only because he and his family did not receive the money, but because the company that he relies on to take care of his family is suffering due to several people quitting their jobs as warehouse workers. He has a very negative view of Black Americans.
Dr. Cu***ng - Black Male in his late 30s-40s - Medical Doctor who is a patron at the barbershop and friends with Malik. He is very knowledgeable of history as it pertains to the mistreatment of black people in the medical industry.
Rick - Black Male in his 40s - Strip Club Owner/ex-professional athlete. Rick is business savvy and known around town for being a pro athlete and for his chain of strip clubs. He is a heavy hitter and was rich before reparations.
Karen - White Woman in her 30s - Accountant and sister to Kyle. If "How could I be racist, I have black friends" were a person, it would be Karen. She works in the corporate office for the family business and constantly clashes with her brother Kyle.
Keisha - Black Woman in her 20s-30s - Hair stylist. She is girlfriend/baby mama of Kendrick. She is from the "hood" but is all about her business, her only weakness is putting up with Kendrick and his shenanigans. She is known for her quick wit and her no-nonsense attitude.
