Thanks to all who submitted a pumpkin to this year’s Book Character Pumpkin Extravaganza! There was so excellent work on display!

This week our 4th and 5th grades have read a book of poetry titled “Last Laughs: Animal Epitaphs,” by J. Patrick Lewis, and wrote limericks for an animal’s tombstone. A touch of dark humor is always a win with these ages. 🤣 Please enjoy: these animal epitaph limericks have cracked the whole school up all week!

The Scholastic Book Fair starts Monday at Southside! The fair is open Monday-Friday during school hours, and Thursday 5-8 during Grandparent’s Night! Look for wish lists in your students’ folders and backpacks this weekend.

Most consistently emptied baskets this year so far! My daughter named her two turtles Ivy and Bean over the summer and I happened to mention it 😉, and that has significantly increased circulation of that series. Never underestimate the small things! The Battle Books have also taken a hit and I’m loving it! 🤣🐢📚
