Late season new life on the farm! Our highland, peaches, had her first bull calf!

We’re interested to see what an angus / highland cross will look like over the next few months.

If I could make the world a small town maybe we’d learn to slow it all down. 🌾

This rye is looking fine. 🌾 😍

One goal of regenerative agriculture is to rebuild our soil.

One way we do this is by over seeding our pasture with a rye cover crop in the fall. One benefit is that it gives the soil a living root through winter. Rye has a large root mass which helps build organic matter.

Something about those red babies 😍

Calving season started on the farm today and with twins! 🐮

Unfortunately the momma would only take to one so that means bottle feeding for us.

We feed colostrum, the first milk that the cow has. It contains antibodies for the calf’s immune system. For the next two months we’ll bottle feed with milk replacer.

Help us name this cutie little heifer! 🖤
