Standing Oak Tutorial

First monthly outing! This year Standing Oak is doing monthly outings outside of school for our families who are able and would like to join to continue to build community and relationship.

This month was a Sawnee Mountain Hike!

We had a blast, in spite of the crazy September heat!

Last week was our first field trip day of the year!

Form 1 had a blast at the Consolidated Gold Mines, taking the tour and panning for gold. It fits perfectly with the time period we’re studying this year.

Form 2 & 3 went on a water field trip with Elachee Science Center. They had a blast checking out water temps, learning about its ecosystem and spying amoeba’s in the microscope. Our science book “World in a Drop of Water” had the students excited to learn about a local body of water.

Form 4+ stayed in this trip and managed to have a chill day of school at Ms. Connie’s house with treats and lunch. Felt like old times.

We love seeing the students learn and grow, not just in the classroom, but outside of it.

Each month our parents receive a newsletter about what is happening in each form. We love seeing all the updates in one place.

We’re starting to settle in- routines and schedules, books and narrations, outdoor play and learning both.

The beauty in those everyday moments is shining through this week.

Plenty of misconceptions exist about homeschool hybrids- here’s an opportunity to understand how Standing Oak functions.

We’ll have to remember to take more pictures in future weeks, but here’s science labs with magnets, enjoying time together and time outside… and week two is already done.

A couple of work days at school. Room refresh, deep cleaning, and building garden beds for this coming year’s life skill. It’s been wonderful to see everyone come together and work so hard to make next year great!
