Glucomannan is a calorie free, natural, soluble fiber that is extracted from the konjac root. Supplemental fibers are commonly used by the food industry in lieu of sugars to try and push down the calorie and net carb count. However, some people don’t react well to supplemental fibers, especially in excessive amounts. We only use 1 gram of glucomannan because like Gelatin, glucomannan is also extremely viscous – absorbing almost 200 times its weight in water. Thus, it's particularly filling and effective as a weight loss supplement at just very small amounts (Keithley et al).
