As I processed some recent devastating Memphis Tennessee news with some art this morning it made me remember the very basic building block skill that sounds almost too simple-Feel Something. Not just for a moment, not just on the surface, not just in passing as you scroll to something that’s more comforting but actually sitting with it. Sitting with feelings is a tool all by itself. It postpones seeking escape while giving you extra seconds of emotional insight. It gives pause to process instead of a leaping into reacting from the first painful emotional splinter. Helps make a problem more tangible and solvable instead of the lost and hopeless feeling that sits like an out of focus elephant in the room.
Not all tools are direct lines to solutions. Some tools simply engage our better selves & deeper wisdom. I believe there’s relief in resilience. simply feeling is one way to build it.
