Starting lisianthus from seed is not for the faint of heart. It takes longer to start and grow than any other flower we grow. Every bloom is cherished because of the work that went into it to get there. These blooms actually overwintered from last year without any protection from winter elements which makes them extra special.

In love with the hint of blush right at the center. So pretty 💕

The Japanese Beetles were trying to hang on for dear life in a small rain shower earlier 🫠🫠
Fall flowers loading 💐
Cleaning seed on a Monday morning. Nigella seed to be specific. It’s way too easy to save.
Plant the seed in the fall (in the south), let it bloom, make seed pods, and let them get crunchy. Once they’re crunchy, the seeds come out of the pods so easily and you have seed for the next season.

My favorite space💕 This was from a few weeks ago, but this cottage space uses roses to anchor the corners, yarrow (a perennial) near them, and then some seeds that I tossed into the space to fill it in. A little bit of a plan and a little bit chaos gardening.
All the things that will be filling my summer break 💕. We’re obviously still growing, but taking a break from sales this summer. Just a simple summer filled with puppy walks, watching ducklings, making music, reading good books, and working with my hands in a variety of ways. Hobby summer. What will you be doing this summer?

What’s in my wagon?
I’d love to tell you. A crate full of heirloom chrysanthemums that got planted this morning 🙌🏻 (3 more to go), water with electrolytes, a trowel, my hori hori knife, and my favorite gloves. This wagon has probably seen a lot and I am glad that I finally found a way to use it. It sure beats carrying all of that to what I call the back 40.

Last week, I harvested most of the lavender. It’s so unusual for everything to be ready this early. The Hori Hori knife made for quick work. If you like to garden, you need one. There are so many uses for it. Now we’ll dry the lavender for later use. It smells amazing.
