We participated in the recent Trusted Advisors & Connectors Event in partnership with the Indiana Office of Commerce and NWI Forum at Fair Oaks Farm.
Our Lorri presented and ISBDC Lead Agribusiness Advisor Bob Warner spoke as a panelist, along with ISDA, Agrinovus, IEDC.
It was a wonderful opportunity to share and hear about the resources available for farm, food and other agribusinesses.

Congrats to recent Munster High School graduate Brandon Walker for placing 2nd at the STARTedUP Foundation Finals, Indiana’s high school pitch competition!
Brandon is behind Course Caddy, a golf ball retrieval system that saves both time and money through color strip and drone technology.

We are honored to assist him with market research and he also presented at 1MC.

Our Business Advisor Julia Plumb recently stopped in at Hannah's Country Road Greenhouse, winner of the recent Starke Tank pitch competition!
Hannah Hunnicutt is a recent graduate from Purdue University with a Bachelors in Horticulture and a minor in Agri Food and Business Management.
Her goal was to be a business owner and after purchasing a few greenhouses, she is already cultivating her entrepreneurial side. She offers a wide range of flowers two miles south of Bass Lake.

Angela Gough is the president/owner of AMG Services, Inc., a DBE/ACDBE/WBE/WOSB certified contractor specializing in structural steel er****on, pre-engineered metal building er****on, rebar installation, and fabrication of rebar cages. Angela employs highly skilled union ironworkers and delivers precise, reliable work on public and private projects.

"I find personal satisfaction in the challenge of entrepreneurship. As the first woman‑owned union ironworker subcontractor in Northwest Indiana, that challenge becomes even more meaningful because I’m carving out space in a trade where women haven’t traditionally been represented."

She is one of our Government Contracting Peer Group members. Sponsored by us, the group helps small business owners build the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to pursue government contracting opportunities more strategically. The group is facilitated by Joanne Tica, our specialty advisor.

Participants learn practical contracting concepts, discuss real business challenges with peers, and complete exercises that support stronger readiness, positioning, pricing, and buyer outreach. The current cohort includes nine local businesses participating in this free, 12-part training program.
