Last week, we wrapped our 2026 Summer Kids Camp at Bulldog Park!🌟 This camp is so special and wouldn't be possible without our officers, the City's PACE Department and our community partners.

A special thank you to Bear KompleX, Crown Point Community School Corporation, Vivid Art by Regina and Walmart Merrillville for giving this year's camp an extra dose of summer magic.πŸ’™

On Friday, our campers enjoyed meeting the Crown Point Police K9 Unit, high fives with Mayor Land, a cookout with their families and a safety walk to Azucar for ice cream!

Curious about how your kiddo can join us next year? Watch our page in late May/early June next year for information on registering for this free program.

Suspicious Device Safely Removed from Crown Point Bank

CROWN POINT β€” At approximately 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, the Crown Point Police Department responded to First Savings Bank of Hegewisch, 1531 E. South St., after a suspicious device was discovered on the property by a landscaping crew.

Officers secured the area and requested assistance from explosive detection K-9 units and the Porter County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad.

Bomb technicians determined the device was not an explosive, however, it was a device used to administer smoke. The device was safely secured and removed from the property for destruction.

There were no injuries and no immediate threat to the public.

The investigation into how the device came to be on the property remains ongoing.

Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Crown Point Police Department at 219-663-2131 or the CPPD Tip Line at 219-663-213, ext. 265.

Last week, our team underwent an inspection at Bulldog Park to ensure they have the necessary equipment to protect and serve our community.πŸš” Many of our officers also received awards for their bravery in the field.

Following, we held a memorial ceremony for all our brothers and sisters who have lost their lives in honor of National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

Take a moment today to remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty. We will never forget the sacrifice they made to protect our communities.πŸ’™πŸ–€
