It's a Friday Throwback Thursday!

Here's an article from the BG Independent News reporting on a Wood County (Ohio) Democratic Party meeting where Jim Purvis and State Representative Joe Miller spoke about Democrats 101.

Unfortunately, the conversation about what is the identity of the Democratic Party and what are our values is still going on. If anyone says to you that they don't know what the Democratic Party stands for, show them the Democratic Creed!

Democrats look to American values to unite the party J.M. Purvis, author of “Democrats 101,” and State Rep. Joe Miller, D-Lorain, talked at a Wood County Democrats meeting Monday night at Grounds for Thought in hopes of starting a groundswell of support for uniting the party locally, in the state and across the nation.

The ideals set forth in the founding documents — the Constitution and the Bill of Rights — form the foundation of the Democratic Creed. These American Values are the bedrock of our national identity. They are not abstract principles; they are commitments that generations of Americans have fought to protect.

From the beginning, we have not always lived up to those ideals. Our history is marked by progress and setbacks, by moments of courage and moments of failure. Yet the defining feature of this nation is that we never stop striving. The work of forming a more perfect union is continuous.

Those American Values remain our guiding light — a torch illuminating the path toward a just society…as long as it takes.
