Acadia SWCD
In 1945 the Acadia Soil and Water Conservation District was formed. Each Soil & Water District has a governing body of local people, elected or appointed.

Donโt let your cows wish they were in your neighbor's pasture!
Proper pasture management ensures that your livestock receive the highest quality nutrition while maintaining the health and productivity of your land. In addition to grazing and fertilizing, consider implementing rotational grazing practices to prevent overgrazing and allow for regrowth. Regular soil testing can assist your fertilization program to meet the specific needs of your pasture, ensuring optimal forage production. If youโre introducing new forage species, itโs a good idea to mix varieties that have different growth patterns and nutrient profiles. This not only maximizes the nutritional benefits for your cows but also improves pasture resilience to varying weather conditions. Remember, healthy pastures contribute to healthy livestock. By investing time and resources into proper pasture management now, youโre setting the stage for a productive and sustainable grazing season that will benefit both your animals and your land for years to come.
