It's that time again, we are in the final countdown to our 3rd annual Battle on the Bayou Fishing Tournament on June 27th!

Once again, Ben Blanchard has shown his support as one (yes, that's right, we have two this year) of our BIG BASS sponsors this year.

Take a look at who they are, what they do and how they can help you with all of your commercia insurance needs!

Over the next week you'll be hearing from us sharing all about our sponsors! Once again, we bring to you our first Big Bass Sponsor, Bayou Risk Management!

Yep, that's right, Ben believes in what we have put together and he has chosen to show his support by sponsoring the 3rd Annual Battle on the Bayou Fishing Tournament again this year!

Ben & Summer Blanchard believe in their community. They believe in supporting their community. The reason they started their agency back in 2022 is because they saw a need for an agency that not only served their clients but cared about their community.

If you are looking for commercial insurance, you can expect a friendly hello, a warm welcome to the family and personalized service every single time.

Interested in working with them, check out their website here:

Our main guy is going to be down and out for a few days. Justin Simon is currently in the hospital waiting to have his Gallbladder removed. Yesterday was a rough afternoon for him but he was able to rest last night and is resting again this morning.

If you know Justin then you know he is thinking about work, his customers and the shop. As a matter of fact, yesterday, he was talking to customers while pacing the house in excruciating pain trying to "walk it off."

He quickly learned that "walking it off" would not work. We were in the emergency within a matter of hours from the initial start of the pain.

The shop will be open. Between Hunter, Sabe & Jase the three of them can hold down the fort while Justin is recovering.

Please send all the well wishes, blessings, good vibes his way. He's as stubborn as they come but knows this is his body's way of telling him to slow down a bit.

One month out to the Battle on the Bayou Fishing Tournament on June 27th in Lake Arthur!

We are exactly one month out from the 3rd Annual Battle on the Bayou Fishing Tournament !

We've been extra quiet this year.... Gator Boatwx moved into a new shop back in January and it's been nonstop since then.

Don't worry, though! We are numbers people... well Brand is... and we're looking good with registrations, better than we expected!

Let's compare:

2024:
one month prior to tournament: 5 boats
one week prior to tournament: 22 boats
total tournament day: 33 boats (63 anglers)
total cash payout: $5960, plus some fun prizes!

2025:
one month prior to tournament: 8 boats
one week prior to tournament: 34 boats
total tournament day: 44 boats (87 anglers)
total cash payout: $7280, plus over $4,000 in prizes!

2026:
one month prior to tournament: 18 boats

If that doesn't tell you that it's bound to be a great day, I'm not sure what will!

Tag your fishin' buddies and let them know to be 3rd Annual Battle on the Bayou Fishing Tournament on June 27th!

and don't forget, if you are looking for a place to stay, check out Myers Landing Campground--they have cabins and RV spaces to rent!

Just over a month away! Battle on the Bayou Fishing Tournament is June 27!

We are just over a month from the tournament and have had quite a few people reach out to ask about the check-in process.

To make it as simple as possible:

You can put in at
Myers Landing Campground
Gary's Landing
or at your personal camp/home

but you MUST come to Myers Landing Campground to check-in and live-well checks.

Once you check-in and have your live-wells checked, you will receive your asisgned boat number.

Every boat must blast off from Myers Landing Campground.

To recap: you can put your boat in the water at Myers Landing Campground, Gary's or from any other location you choose, BUT

you must check-in, have live-wells checked and blast off from Myers Landing Campground or you will be disqualified from the tournament.

If there are any questions, feel free to call either Brandi Comeaux Simon at 337-349-2813 or Justin Simon at 337-384-4748.

We have 15 boats registered so far--we anticipate a full house again this year, so make sure to tell your buddies!

The shop will be closed Saturday, April 25th.

We will be back open Monday, April 27th!

New, clean fuel: left
Old, dirty fuel: right

A boat is NOT a car… and it will absolutely remind you of that at the worst possible time 😂

You can ignore your car for months, come back, turn the key, and it’s like “no problem, let’s go.”

Your boat? Oh no. Your boat holds grudges.

That fuel you left in there “just for a little while”? Yeah… it’s been marinating. Separating. Plotting. Becoming something that barely qualifies as gasoline anymore.

Then you finally hit the water, all excited… and the engine starts acting like it forgot its own job.

Moral of the story:
Just because you didn’t use your boat doesn’t mean your fuel didn’t go bad — check it before you go, or you might be making new friends with whoever tows you back in 😅

Anodes are one of the cheapest parts on your boat—but they protect some of the most expensive.

Their job is simple: they corrode so your motor and lower unit don’t. The problem is, most people don’t check them until they’re completely gone… and by then, the damage may already be starting.

If your anodes are worn down, crusted over, or missing, it’s time to replace them. Staying ahead of it can save you from corrosion issues that turn into costly repairs.

Not sure what shape yours are in? Bring it by or give us a call—we’ll take a look and keep your motor protected.
