Please be aware of misleading mailers circulating right now.

As a reminder, all Connecticut businesses are required to file an annual report with the State of Connecticut. Recently, I received a letter from a company called “Fast Filing Services” out of Torrington, CT, requesting $195 to file—broken down as a $115 “processing fee” plus the state’s $80 filing fee.

While this type of service is not illegal, it is unnecessary.

You can file your annual report directly with the Connecticut Secretary of the State on the official CT.gov Office of the Connecticut Secretary of the State website for $80 total—no third-party service required.

Just a heads-up so you don’t overpay. Always double-check official state websites before sending payments.
