🦆 Now let me tell you somethin’ about Twin Hills Park…
If you ever find yourself there late in the day, when the sun starts droppin’ low and that warm light comes pourin’ through the trees, you’ll notice it real quick — them Muscovy ducks run the place.
I stood there watchin’ ’em the other evening.
Some of the big ones walked around in that bold black-and-white coat, red faces glowin’ like the light itself had painted ’em. Others were softer, mottled browns and greys, just easein’ along. And right in the middle of it all were the little ones, scurrying across the asphalt and pine needles tryin’ their best to keep up with the rest of the flock.
From a distance you could see the whole group movin’ together, long shadows stretchin’ out behind ’em as they crossed the grounds.
But when I got down low — right on their level — that’s when the real story showed up. The evening light caught the shine on their feathers, and you could see the quiet little personalities in every face.
Most folks drive right past and never think twice about ’em.
But when that golden light falls just right, those everyday ducks turn into somethin’ worth stoppin’ for.

🌅 There is a singular enchantment that descends upon Twin Hills Park in the final moments before the sun withdraws beneath the horizon.
The late-day light, filtering through the ancient trees, transforms the familiar grounds into a scene of quiet grandeur.
In one frame, the brilliant rays pierce the heavy silhouettes of the trunks with striking intensity, casting the surrounding woods into deepest shadow whilst the ducks move softly through the gloom.
In the other, the sky itself becomes the principal actor — a vast expanse of burning gold and amber that dwarfs the park’s lights and distant tree line, with a solitary carriage in the foreground anchoring the composition to the everyday world.
The same golden hour, yet two distinctly different temperaments.

🦆 When the late-day sun cuts through the trees, ordinary moments turn surreal.
This is just Northwest Florida golden hour doing what it does best.
The light catches the pine needles and turns the ground into a glowing stage. Getting down to eye level with this Muscovy duck lets the fiery highlights on its dark feathers and the deep shadows become the real subject.
No studio needed — just patience and the last light of the day.

🎃 Halloween Edition is here!
You choose the challenge. I capture the moment.
Here are this week’s four spooky themes:
1️⃣ Haunted & Abandoned
Find a place, building, road, or object that gives off a creepy or mysterious feeling — old buildings, empty roads, forgotten places, overgrown structures.
2️⃣ Light in the Darkness
Create a photograph where a small light becomes the focus of a dark scene. Candles, flashlights, porch lights, headlights, lanterns, or even the moon.
3️⃣ Halloween Details
Forget the big picture — hunt for the little details that scream Halloween. Carved pumpkins, creepy decorations, spiderwebs, costumes, masks, skeletons, candy, etc.
4️⃣ Spooky Story
Take a photograph that looks like a scene from a horror movie and makes people wonder, “What happened here?” Use lighting, composition, fog, shadows, and an interesting location to create the story.

🛣️ Sometimes the best perspective is right down on the asphalt.
Dropping the camera low completely changes the feel of a scene. The rough texture of the road leads the eye straight toward the truck parked on the shoulder, while the treeline and sky do the rest of the work.
The heavy silhouette of the trees sits under a burst of orange and gold as the sun goes down. It’s a simple mix of steel, road, and sky that feels both familiar and cinematic.
