I am running for Cranston City Council Ward 4 as a Democrat. My address is 8 Emerald Dr. Hope RI 02831. I have lived in the ward since 2006.
I moved to Cranston when I was eight and completed my education through the Cranston School system. When I was 19, I joined the Air force and trained to become a firefighter. I was stationed at Offutt Air force base for two years. I was deployed to the middle east for Operation Desert Fox. In August of 1999 I discharged honorably and moved back to Cranston. I transferred to the RI Air National Gua
rd where I completed another 7 ½ years of service. I have lived in Cranston since my discharge from active duty. In 1999 I was hired at Otis Air National Guard Base as a firefighter and later transferred in 2002 to Naval Station Newport as a firefighter until my recent retirement. During my time at Naval Station Newport, I trained to become a EMT C and then to a Paramedic. Since 2020 I have been a member of the Cranston Democrats ward four committee. I am currently enrolled at Southern New Hampshire University and will be graduating in June of 2023 with a degree in business. I have been married to my wife Melissa for 25 years this month and have five wonderful children, Liana, Isabella, Joseph, Alana, and Giana. All of my kids have attended school through the Cranston School system. Serving is something I have been involved in and enjoyed doing since I was 19. I enjoy helping people and this is the reason why I am running for city council. My goal if elected is to continue making Cranston a safe and great place to live while providing our children with a great education. Our city spending has to be controlled to limit any tax increases in the future. This is a task I believe I can help with. We need to be creative to limit any tax increases. Our tax paying citizens cannot afford a tax increase especially during the rising costs of products due to inflation. Our city’s elderly population needs help affording to stay in their homes. Our city should have a tax freeze on lower income citizens 70 and over. It only makes sense because most of these individuals are on a fixed income. We don’t want our elderly displaced from their homes because they can’t afford a tax increase. With the uncertainties of inflation and with the city’s current structural deficit, we need our elected officials to be fiscally sound and fix the issues that I have mentioned above. I believe I can help keep Cranston a great and safe place to live and hope to earn the voter’s support.
