The bad news is that I look like this. And that the rest of practice is canceled today at . This weather kind of sucked, but great forecast from here on out. Also that I'm late and need a team to embed with.
The good news is that I now have time to get my funky self cleaned up fresh as a daisy, unpack and repack all my gear and get organized for an awesome weekend of shooting at vs the frantic mess I was in this morning. If I can figure out what time the media briefing is that is.
Let's do this !

A little photography rant today. I really get tired of watching Motorsports photographers tell aspiring photogs that fast exposures are THE cardinal sin. No motion blur? Then the photo sucks. Whatever.
My only comment on the matter is that if the vehicle is composed in such a way that it could just as easily be parked and sitting still rather than doing 100mph then yes, probably not a great pic. Me personally? I LOVE lots of things only captured clearly at high shutters. The tires can be absolutely clear, but if I have a long dirt rooster out the back in perfect detail as well? Awesome.
Take the above shot of Johnny Greaves landing after a massive jump at ERX Motor Park for example. Do you really need motion blur to understand he's landing? That he jumped? That he's hauling ass? Would you prefer a blurred tire to being able to see the crazy compression on the front tire?
Yes. You need *something* that conveys what you're trying to get across to the viewer. But this ridiculous notion that fully stopped motion with fast shutters in Motorsports equals horrible pictures just drives me crazy.
You do you. Shoot whatever and however you like. As long as what you're getting out the other end is what you desired? Cool. Everything else is subjective.
Rant over.
