Our Brushy Fork work day on this 3rd Sat. of the month. (July 20) is canceled. Due to recent drought conditions, there is not a need for maintenance at this time. Our trees and plantings are in good shape thanks to volunteer help with intermittent watering and some recent rain
Please plan on joining us for our next scheduled volunteer day on Aug. 16.
If you have time, stop by to see our new Kiosk!
See you in August!

Volunteers Needed!
Join the Kenton Conservancy, Banklick Watershed Council (BWC) and Master Gardeners for a work party at Brushy Fork Nature Preserve. On June 15th we will be trimming, weeding and mulching. We would also like to get fencing around our recently planted trees. We begin at 9 and usually stop at 12. If we have plenty of help, maybe sooner!
Location: 10463 Canberra Drive, Independence, KY 41051 (Please be respectful of neighbor's driveways when parking)
Please bring:
- Appropriate clothing: Close-toed shoes, long pants, hat, eye protection, sunscreen, work gloves, etc.
- Grass trimmers, loppers, trowels, shovels, heavy wire cutters or bolt cutters for the fencing. If you have a truck and can bring a wheel barrow that would be a big help. 5 gallon buckets are also useful(We will have a limited number of tools to share)
- Water!
Inclement weather cancels the event. Registered participants will be notified if rescheduled.
Note: This is an approved Master Gardner volunteer site (Category 2). Master Gardners are responsible for reporting your volunteer hours at this site.

Some Kenton Conservancy volunteers were out helping to maintain our Wolsing Trails. Our trails at Wolsing Trails Preserve are level and shady. Perfect for a summer day!

This Saturday is our next workday at the Brushy Fork Nature Preserve.
Don't forget: this event is weather dependent, so rain will cancel. It currently looks like a 50/50 chance of bad weather on Saturday.
If you can, please bring some tools (shovel/rake), a hat, gloves, a refillable water bottle, and appropriate clothing. Also, if anyone has a string trimmer that you can bring along, that would be a huge help!
We will hopefully be working on trimming, mowing, weeding, and spreading mulch around the plantings.
If you have any questions, please contact Nicole Clements ([email protected]) with Banklick Watershed Council or Kathy Donohoue ([email protected]) with the Kenton Conservancy.
