11th & Russell • c. 1890s⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ About last night... this three-family was the big hit of my stories, so I had to find an old picture. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Someone lives on the first floor now, but in the early 1980s (swipe to see), it was Bob's Carryout. ⁣⁣Note the old stoplight!⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Before that, the building housed several pharmacies, beginning with the Mann Drug Store—Mann's name is on the building. Swipe to see an early 1900s image of Mann's. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ The building was also home to Knapmeyer Pharmacy in the '40s and Sandman's Pharmacy in the '50s and later. Anthony and Cecilia Sandman owned a house a few steps away on 11th Street. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Also, these pharmacies had liquor licenses... so convenient! ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ The first floor of the building includes an original pressed tin ceiling...it looks like it's been painted white. South of the Mann building on the corner of Russell and 12th st. still stood the old Covington High School 1872-1937.
