THE YEARS THAT CROWN ME

Every year that brushes my skin
doesn’t steal a thing from me,
it forges me.
It drapes me in a new filament of lightning,
threads another pulse of eternity
through the seams of my becoming.

My spirit is deepening,
like dusk concentrating itself
into a single, shimmering breath.
I have learned to walk with the moon
as if she were an old friend
who once lived in my ribcage.

My yes is an incantation now,
a door only the worthy can find.
My no is a sword of remembering,
quiet, clean, and holy.

They call it “aging,”
as if I were losing something.
But my soul knows better.
This is return.
This is resurrection.
This is the long-sleeping goddess
stretching her spine inside my bones,
shaking off the dust of politeness
I once mistook for grace.

I am not fading.
I am distilling.
I am gathering my weather.

And somewhere inside the girl I used to be,
I hear her gasp,
recognizing the storm
she once prayed to
has finally come home
as me.
