Celebrating Juneteenth 2026 in Covington includes a FREE concert at Legion Field and the Newton County Historical Committee on Black Heritage Preservation's Annual Juneteenth Parade and Festival!

🎵 On Friday, June 19, 2026, come out to Legion Field (3173 Mill Street NE) for a concert with the soulful stylings of Stello & the Supes. The concert starts at 7 p.m. and Chick-fil-A Covington - Atlanta Pizza & Gyro - Scoops Covington will be onsite. Bring a blanket or chair and your dancing shoes to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday with music and community!

🎈The Annual Juneteenth Parade will make its way through downtown Covington on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Starting at 10 a.m., find your favorite place along the route to cheer on the participants. After the parade, the celebration will move to Old Cousins/Wolverine Gym (8134 Geiger Street, 30014) for the Juneteenth Festival with vendors, live music, food trucks, activities, and a public safety basketball game!

Appeal Your Property Taxes Before It's Too Late!

If you own a property in Georgia, you have 45 days from the date you receive your property tax notice (which you should have received between May and June) to file an appeal. If this notice is not received, the board cannot extend the deadline, making it critical to check your mail for the notice or calling your local County Board of Tax Assessors office.

Where to File: Submit your appeal in writing to your local County Board of Tax Assessors.

Method: You can often file online, in person, or by mail (certified mail is recommended).

Basis for Appeal: You can appeal based on value, uniformity, taxability, or denial of exemptions.

Once that window closes, your assessed value is locked in for the year. SO GET ON IT!
