This was an RV converter that the customer thought needed to be replaced.
What happened was the batteries were initially hooked up backwards, and that caused the reverse polarity fuses to blow out.
The fuse blew out on the converter as well, which is technically “non serviceable”, however with a quick fix by installing a replaceable fuse, it was back in service.
This is why I always tell people to turn off their fans when they leave their homes.
You never know what can happen, and in this case, a fan caught on fire because the motor locked up and the thermal protection failed or is non existent (less prevalent in older fans) always turn off your fans, and heaters, and also; never, ever leave a dryer unattended.
