Its trailer aerodynamics report is the most downloaded resource, showing strong industry interest in practical fuel-saving solutions.

Many fleets have already improved tractor aerodynamics but found limited gains when using non-aerodynamic trailers. To maximize efficiency, fleets are optimizing key trailer areas such as the tractor-trailer gap, underbody, and rear design to reduce drag.

The takeaway: real-world efficiency improvements matter most to fleets, and trailer aerodynamics remains one of the most effective ways to lower fuel consumption. NACFE plans to release an updated report in late 2026 to reflect new technologies and industry changes.
