Come visit, spend some time getting to know them, and see which one might be the right fit for your home and lifestyle. Each dog has their own unique personality, and we'd love to help you find your new best friend.

Meet Duke!

If you're looking for a big dog with an even bigger heart, Duke might just be your perfect match!

Duke is a 2-year-old Mastiff mix who is as sweet and lovable as they come. This handsome guy loves being around people and is a champion leaner, if you're standing nearby, don't be surprised when Duke gently leans into you for some extra affection. He may be a big boy, but he often forgets just how large he is!

Duke is ready to trade shelter life for a home of his own where he can share his love, cuddles, and goofy personality every day.

Come meet Duke and see if this gentle giant is the missing piece of your family! We're open Monday–Friday from noon to 6 PM and Saturday from 11 AM to 5 PM.

🐾 Free dog DHPP Vaccines Available While Supplies Last! 🐾

We currently have a small number of dog DHPP vaccines available for community pets at no cost.

Stop by during our regular business hours:
Monday–Friday: 12:00 PM–6:00 PM
Saturday: 11:00 AM–5:00 PM

No appointment is necessary.

Please note: At this time, DHPP is the only vaccine we have available for public pets. We do not currently have any cat vaccines, and we are not currently offering rabies vaccines.

Supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

MHS is closed today for staff meetings and development. We will see you tomorrow at noon!

When meeting new people, Rosco can be a little cautious at first. But with a little extra time, a gentle approach, and maybe a few tasty treats, you'll soon see his true personality start to shine. ✨

Once he feels comfortable, Rosco is incredibly sweet, loyal, and devoted to his people. He forms strong bonds and loves being with those he trusts. There’s something special about earning Rosco’s friendship—it’s a bond that’s well worth the wait.

Rosco has done ok with other dogs, but we recommend a meet-and-greet with any resident pets to help ensure a successful match and a happy start for everyone. 🐶🐾

Join us on Sunday, August 9th at Iowa Western Community College for a day filled with incredible vehicles, family fun, raffles, food, vendors, and support for the animals at Midlands Humane Society.
