The Chilean Cranberry Bean, or ‘Poroto Vaina Colorada para Granado,’ is an heirloom Chilean red-podded cranberry-type bean.
Harvest while pods are mature and red (“granado” stage)—beans are pure white and still tender—and use fresh in the traditional Chilean stew porotos granados. Or, allow to fully mature to harvest as a dry shelling bean.

Ed has been busy prepping the garlic beds for upcoming planting. We tilled in the summer cover crop and are mixing in Lane Forest Products organic compost. The garlic will love it!

Got vampire problems? This variety is for you!
Transylvanians creamy white wrappers are streaked and blushed with tan to coffee browns. Cloves are larger than most softnecks and blunt tipped, with some outer cloves having deep purple wrappers. Great for braiding.

Stock levels are very low - we’re completely out of seed garlic. For culinary garlic, we have some Chesnok Red, Mt. St. Helens, and Italian Mtn. Red available in bulbs, with small amounts of loose cloves in the other varieties.

Mt. St. Helens is a western Washington heirloom softneck that is one of our favorites for braiding - the purple/pink outer cloves show through the white bulb wrappers when peeled down for display. Pungent and hot raw; almost nutty roasted.

Our inventories are running low - if you've been waiting to order, now is the time!
For seed grade, we only have Chesnok Red and Polish White left; all other varieties have sold out.
For culinary bulbs, we have very limited quantities of Italian Mtn. Red, Transylvanian, Chesnok Red, and Mt. St. Helens. We're down to just culinary loose cloves for Bavarian Purple and Mt. Hood.
