Early morning fence building here at Slab Town with feline “assistance”. Hopefully this will keep our Houdini goat, Comet, inside his pasture.

It’s kidding season and we are long overdue for introductions!!! Our lovely Allie gave birth to a set of sweet twin girls (Reba and Fancy) right around 5 weeks ago, and Marina popped out a set of b/b/g triplets (Waylon, Shooter, and Jessi) a week ago. Poor Esme is big as a house and due right around the 30th. Sorry about all the pics of Fancy. She is one of those in-your-pocket girls who wants all the attention when in the barn!

In addition to providing a happy home for lots of farm animals, we are also busy providing a happy home to some of societies neediest children: foster kids. We have had the pleasure of sharing our home and farm with a 17 year old boy since February, and just this week we brought in a 3 year old little boy. He has been busy learning about where milk comes from, and is so excited each morning to filter and weigh the milk. He also gets to carry the fresh milk from the barn to the house. Here at Slab Town, we specialize in happy hens and happy kids!

Clearly it's Spring Time at Slab Town! All the babies!!! We picked up these 2 adorable future Rodent Extermination Technicians this morning. No names, yet, but suggestions appreciated. Also, we were delighted to see that our nesting Indian Runner duck hatched out 10 live chicks, and mama and babies have made the long voyage to the pond to settle in. Happy Spring, everyone!

Meet Johnny and June! Our good friend Gus from Naked Acres Farm came with us to make sure these yearlings were a good fit for our little farm! These donkeys will do great protecting our flock from predators like coyotes. They are wild and a bit scared of us right now, but with enough carrots 🥕 they are getting more friendly. Hopefully we can soon brush out their shaggy coats and cut their emo hair out of their eyes😊

You would think I would have learned by now... This is what happens when you leave a basket full of fresh eggs on the kitchen counter.
Esme's such a sweet girl and has no problem jumping on the milking stand in the morning.
Meet the newest members of Slab Town Farm! Esme is a full Nubian, a breed know for high milk fat content, and adorable floppy ears. Her two bucklings were born on Friday the 7th and are as sweet as can be. Willie and Waylon love snuggles and seem to have a mental medicinal property for everyone who's kissed their little faces. As soon as we start weaning we'll have some very tasty milk! Perfect for yogurt and cheese, and with its high butter fat content, a fantastic coffee creamer. 🐐🥛
Happy Easter! We have a few new faces around the farm to introduce. Meet Esme, the full Nubian, and her babies, Waylon and Willie. We are enjoying snuggling the little ones, and getting into the hang of a milking schedule. Goats milk is an excellent option for folks who are lactose intolerant and is phenomenal in morning coffee. As a bonus, you can make your own goats cheese and yogurt! In fact, the frosting on this carrot cupcake (with walnuts and chocolate chips!) is a White Chocolate Goat Cheese frosting. They were a delicious addition to our holiday meal today!
White Chocolate Goat Cheese Frosting
2/3 cup goat cheese
1 8oz pckg cream cheese
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
4 oz white chocolate (melted)
Whip first 3 ingredients on medium for 1 min, then increase to high for 5 mins. Add chocolate and mix on high for 1 min.
