✨David's Projects✨
“The structural design of this project was actually made easier by maintaining the same design concepts and relative scale of each of three separate buildings on the lot. The most difficult design aspect of the project was developing a drainage control plan so that all rainwater could be collected and transmitted to the City storm drain system.” - David M. Jones 👷♂️

✨David's Projects✨: Andre Interior I
"The wood roof beams required a depth that exceeded the thickness of the roof rafters, hence they became exposed. The design incorporated the exposure into gentle curvatures which help define the various interior spaces." - David M. Jones 👷♂️

✨ In honor of National Poetry Month, we are celebrating the work of Richard Blanco, American poet and civil engineer. 📝 He is most widely known for his poem “One Today,” which was read for Barack Obama’s second inauguration.

🌟 About this Poem:
“In his poem “Papa’s Bridge,” Richard Blanco, inaugural poet and civil engineer, shares how a bridge was impressed upon his life. Blanco first viewed the bridge from his father’s hospital room where, as a child, he spent days by his father’s side. The bridge signifies Blanco’s father’s dream of his son becoming an engineer. Blanco’s commute over the bridge brings him reminders of his father’s love and loss. The bridge’s meaning grows as Blanco does, and the memory of the bridge accompanies Blanco through his life. Importantly, this poem reminds us how urban infrastructure shapes our daily human existence.” - Marci S. Uihlein, Executive Editor of Technology | Architecture + Design, Volume 3, 2019 - Issue 1

✨David's Projects✨: Park Aerial
"One of the challenges in the structural design of this project was keeping track of the different roof planes and making sure each plane is attached to a sheer wall." - David M. Jones 👷♂️
