Project Turnaround doesn't serve just youth; we serve the community. Community involvement in substance prevention is impactful; it carries weight that matters.
Here, Project Turnaround visits community members at a local senior center to offer fun, socially interactive activities they can take home and use with their own families.

Strong, positive family interaction is one of the most important protective factors for youth. The more we strengthen those connections, the more we support healthier, substance-free futures.

Our students from Calallen enjoyed making characters from air dry clay. Pictured above are students' creative masterpieces. One student decided to create both SpongeBob and Patrick. Air Dry clay comes in a variety of colors that you can mold to make creative designs. Taking a break from technology to make something can be a great way to calm the mind and relax your body from daily life stressors.

What is your favorite craft to do?

Healthy, supportive friendships are one of the strongest protective factors in staying substance-free.

What makes a healthy friendship?
• Trust and honesty
• Respect for boundaries
• Encouragement to make positive choices
• Support during difficult moments
• Having fun without substances

Youth who have friends who use substances are more likely to use themselves; it's important for youth to have strong, supportive peer relationships to avoid risky behaviors. The people you surround yourself with matter. Choosing friends who respect your goals and support a substance-free lifestyle can make all the difference.

At Project Turnaround, we focus on helping youth recognize healthy vs. unhealthy friendships and build connections that support their future.

Come see us every third Thursday at the Art Museum for more fun crafts to build.
