Philippians 2:9-11
9 For this reason God highly exalted Him
and gave Him the name
that is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus
every knee will bow ….and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
1 Timothy 1:17
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Being the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13) means we are different from the world, not quarantined from the world.
Views of Christian holiness that stress our difference from the world, without also emphasizing our service to the world, make us ineffective witnesses of Christ.
Christian holiness was always meant to be contagious. We are healing agents who go where the world is dark to bring the light of Christ.
Stay salty! (Matthew 5:13)
Salt benefits meat by staying salt; in the same way, Christians serve the world best when we are distinctively Christian.
This means that in a world of division, we are called to be unifiers. In a world of hatred, we are to embody love. In a world where power is wielded to bully others, we use power to serve others.
Our distinction from the ways of this world is how we witness to the new life of Jesus and invite others to participate in it.
Psalms 103:10-12 (HCSB)
He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve
or repaid us according to our offenses. For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is His faithful love
toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed
our transgressions from us.

Lamentations 3:22-23
Because of the LORD’S faithful love we do not perish,
for His mercies never end. They are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness!

The world is better because of women like you. Today we celebrate you, honor you, and thank God for you 🌸
The spiritual disciplines of fasting, Bible study, and prayer are not ways we earn God’s attention, but ways we enjoy the attention He has already given us because of Jesus Christ.
Jesus addressed the tendency in all of us to turn spiritual disciplines into a performance (Matthew 6:1–18). We may pray to show others how devout we are. Or sometimes we think that longer, louder, and more eloquent prayers grant us an audience with God (Matthew 6:8).
But Jesus frames prayer as a conversation between a loving Father and His children (Matthew 6:9). He says that our Father sees us in secret, even when no one else can; we already have His attention. Jesus also says that our Father knows what we need before we ask.
If we already have God’s attention, and He already knows what we need, then why pray at all?
Because, as children, we are dependent on our Father. Because we obey our Father’s command to come to Him in prayer. Because we love our Father and enjoy His company. Because, in prayer, we become like our Father.
This is why we pray!
Prayer is an expression of our dependence on God; it is a recognition of our utter impotence without Him.
In prayer, we live out what it means to cling to Jesus like a branch to the vine; we admit with every breath that we are needy!
John 15:4 - Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.
