The world of F1 Grand Prix racing lost one of its greatest personalities and certainly one of the loveliest people I've ever known. I first met Rupert Keegan back in the 80's through mutual friend Kevin Cogan and he quickly became one of my closest friends. We traveled the US and Europe together working on automotive programs and had so much fun doing it (oh the stories). I was always amazed that no matter where we went people knew him, usually celebrities, and of course everyone adored him. A few well respected race drivers told me that he was one the most naturally gifted racing drivers they ever race against. I'll always hear Rupert's infectious laughter when I think of him, gonna miss him dearly. Deepest condolences to the entire Keegan family and all his closest friends. Until we meet again, race in peace Rup! Love ya brother! 🙏💔

It is with heavy hearts that the Schumacher family announce the passing of motorsports icon Don Schumacher. The NHRA team owner and Funny Car pioneer had spent the past several months privately battling lung cancer before succumbing to illness-related complications on Wednesday, December 20.

Schumacher, who was 79 at the time of his passing, leaves a lasting legacy on not only the NHRA community, where he etched his name as one of the sport’s most successful team owners and a champion for the advancement of safety innovation, but on the motorsports community as a whole. Schumacher’s contributions to the auto racing industry reach far beyond drag racing and have been widely recognized.
