Ladies beware! I was in the parking lot the other day… and I was totally confident about what to do if approached by potential danger. Why? Because I train self defense - and you can too!
🚨 GIRLS SELF DEFENSE SUMMER PROGRAM 🚨
This summer, give your daughter something that could genuinely change the way she carries herself for life.
At Paragon Martial Arts, I am offering an 8-week Girls Self-Defense Program designed to build awareness, confidence, and real-world protection skills—not theory, but practical training that works under pressure.
We don’t like to sugarcoat reality. The world can be unpredictable, and young women today are exposed to situations their parents would never want them in. This program is about preparing them—not with fear, but with skill, confidence, and the ability to respond if something ever goes wrong.
Most girls are told to “be careful.”
But being careful is not always enough.
This program is about giving girls real skills, real confidence, and real preparation if they ever find themselves in a dangerous situation.
🥋 8 WEEK PROGRAM (15 classes total)

Ages 13+
Throughout the program, students will learn:
✔️ Situational awareness
✔️ How to recognize danger early
✔️ Verbal self defense and boundary setting
✔️ Jiu jitsu-based escape techniques
✔️ How to get away from grabs and holds
✔️ Confidence under pressure
✔️ Practical skills designed for real-life situations
This is not about teaching girls to “fight.”
It’s about teaching them how to protect themselves, escape danger, and make it home safely.
Whether your daughter is:
• Preparing for college
• Starting to spend more time alone
• Working, traveling, or driving independently
• Going to the gym or grocery store by herself
…these are skills every young woman should have.
👯♀️ Girls are strongly encouraged to sign up in pairs. Bring a friend, sister, teammate, or roommate and learn together.
Tag the women in your life you want to do this with or just someone you think could benefit from this. Don’t let your girls go off to college without a little knowledge to protect themselves when we as parents can’t be there. I know it’s the best decision I made for my daughter.

I talk about nutrition a lot, but what are you feeding your brain? 🧠
This part makes people uncomfortable—but you need to hear it…
The way your brain responds to TikTok and YouTube Shorts is not casual. It mirrors the same reward pathways involved in drug addiction.
Every swipe → dopamine spike.
Every new video → another hit.
Over time, your brain starts to depend on that pattern.
In addiction science, this is called dopamine dysregulation:
Your baseline drops, and you need more stimulation, more often, just to feel “normal.”
That’s why scrolling turns into hours without you even realizing it.
That’s why stopping feels irritating, even stressful.
Now think about this differently:
This is junk food for the brain.
Fast. Easy. Highly stimulating.
And over time—it weakens the system it’s feeding.
Now apply that to a child.
A developing brain repeatedly exposed to rapid, high-reward content is being trained the same way—seeking constant hits, struggling without them, and losing the ability to regulate naturally.
So when the phone gets taken away, what do you see?
• Explosive reactions
• Zero frustration tolerance
• Inability to focus on low-stimulation tasks
• Restlessness that looks like hyperactivity
That’s a brain that’s been overfed stimulation and undertrained in control.
Here’s the hard truth:
Some of what gets labeled as “attention disorders” or “behavior problems” is being amplified—or even created—by this constant overstimulation.
And instead of addressing the root cause, the pattern often looks like this:
Unlimited stimulation →
Dysregulated brain →
Behavior issues →
Diagnosis → medication
You cannot out-medicate an environment that is training the brain to be dysregulated every single day.
If you want to change behavior, you have to change what the brain is being fed.
Start treating attention like nutrition.
Because it is.
Here’s what better “mental nutrition” looks like:
• Slow content – books, podcasts, long-form videos that require sustained focus
• Boredom – this is where creativity, patience, and regulation are built
• Unstructured play (for kids) – not constant entertainment, but imagination
• Movement – exercise helps regulate dopamine naturally
• Silence – no background noise, no constant input
And most importantly:
Boundaries.
No endless scrolling.
No unlimited access.
No screens as the default solution to boredom.
Because right now, many brains—adult and child—are being trained to need constant stimulation just to function.
And that doesn’t lead to focus.
It doesn’t lead to discipline.
It doesn’t lead to emotional control.
It leads to dependency.
You cannot overstimulate a brain all day and expect it to be calm, focused, and resilient.
What you feed the brain matters.
So ask yourself:
Are you building attention…
or destroying it?
