What does a pair of shoes say about a person? Art 1 Honors students finished social commentary shoe paintings.

Art 1 students wrapped up their charcoal self portraits. This was a challenging project, but we had some beautiful results!

Aila is the daughter of art teacher, Mrs. Murray.
Today, Aila competed in the Jr. VASE competition with two of her artworks. She received Superior ratings on both of her artworks, and is now a regional double medalist!
Also, all of our middle school Jr. VASE participants received Superior ratings this year! We are so proud of our falcon artists at all campuses!

LDHS Freshman, Emma Quinn, received a Superior rating (and a perfect score); and is now a State medalist in the 2026 TAEA State Visual Art Scholastic Event. Congratulations on an amazing achievement, Emma! we're so proud of you!

We took about 30 art students to the Dallas Museum district today. At the Nasher we saw the sculpture work of Robert Rauschenberg and Roy Lichtenstein. Then we compared those to the 2D works by the same artists at the Dallas Museum of Art.
The students spent some time sketching, taking pictures in the sculpture gardens, and had lunch in the sunshine at Klyde Warren Park.
Such a fun group of young people!

Artwork of the day...this amazing and creepy tea set is by Senior, Hollie Sweetland. Such amazing detail to the facial features, and really cool glaze work.
