The Kossuth High School senior class is taking it back to the time of low rise jeans, boy bands and CDs for their Senior Showcase: Y2Kossuth💿🩷
Kossuth High School's Senior Showcase kicks off tonight! I meant to post this yesterday, since it ran in yesterday's paper, but let's just agree I'm fashionably late🙈
You can check out the story online or in the e-edition on our website.

“We’re going to have to trust the Lord,” Bro. Carey Miller said. “We have a wonderful church family that will come together. It’s going to be okay.”🕊️

The first tornado of the 2026 tornado season struck Kossuth on Sunday night. The short-lived EF-1 took out most of its anger on a local church while the church's pastor and family were next door. No fatalities or injuries were reported from the spin-up twister.
I spoke with Bro. Carey and his wife Lauren yesterday as the congregation helped clean up the aftermath. As for details on the tornado itself, I spoke with Matt Laubhan of Mississippi Live Weather (who was on the scene about an hour after me yesterday!) and Evan Gibens of the Alcorn County EMA🌪️
Both articles can be found in today's print edition of the Daily Corinthian or online at the link below.

“People stepped up and met needs before we ever realized there was a need that we were going to have,” Thornton said. “We cooked for whoever we had, had three meals a day, and then we prepared meals. We carried meals to homes or wherever they were. Crosswind, First Pres., and Church of the Crossroads showed up in a big way and helped tremendously.”

"Throughout the whole country there are struggling families," Corinth Rotary Club immediate past president Jordan Quinn said. “It gives us an opportunity, especially during the holidays, to bring a smile to somebody. For someone that may be in a situation where they’re less fortunate, we want to make sure that they have a meal on the table."

“I’m just here to share the love of Jesus,” volunteer Andy Stevens said. “To share with people that there’s hope and that God loves them. He’s there for them. The toys are the smallest aspect of this in my opinion. The whole purpose is all about Jesus and sharing His love. A lot are missing the true gift that they’re looking for, and that’s Jesus.”

I had the privilege of covering yesterday's Toy Store for today's issue of the Daily Corinthian. I will forever sing Lighthouse Foundation, Corinth, MS's praises, but Toy Store is really something special. Feel free to check out my article in print or online🤍🎄

“It’s a great opportunity to see the body of Christ at work, helping and serving these families who are in need,” said Joe Vann Purpose Center executive director Esreal Edwards. “It’s an amazing day to see how people who love the Lord come together to serve and glorify God from the beginning of it to the end of it.”
💚❤️
Toy Store is just around the corner, and Lighthouse Foundation, Corinth, MS want families in need to register as soon as possible to ensure they are able to have a merry Christmas.
Not in need this year? There are ways to give back to those struggling in the community with time, money or prayer for the success of this year's endeavor.
-
Brief aside here to say that I absolutely love this ministry and all they do. Whether you're in need, wanting to help, or just curious, please look into them and see what they're doing to better the Crossroads community.
My story (as well as other stories about the Lighthouse Foundation) can be found in the weekend edition of the Daily Corinthian, in print and online at the link below.

“We’ll keep operating like we have been,” said AMEN pantry director Mike Gleich. “We’re going to have to do a little fundraising so we have the funds to keep running. A few years ago, a busy month was 250 families. Today, it’s 400 plus.”

Curious about the school choice debate? The superintendents of Alcorn School District and Corinth School District weighed in with their thoughts on the matter, and how it affects us in North Mississippi. It's an important read!
