Western parts of Horry County could see the risk for strong to severe thunderstorms this evening/tonight.
Keep in mind, a thunderstorm does not need to reach the severe threshold in order to be dangerous. Always seek shelter if you hear thunder and/or see lightning.
Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and perhaps a couple of tornadoes should occur this afternoon and evening across portions of the Mid-Atlantic into the Southeast.
Another area of scattered severe thunderstorms are also expected across the northern/central High Plains, with large to very large hail the main threat.
For the latest severe storm outlook check spc.noaa.gov and for active warnings for your local area check weather.gov.
