The Chaplain Emergency Relief Fund provides quick, temporary financial help to current military members and their families facing financial need in NH..
The purpose of the fund is to assist military personnel with emergency needs primarily in the areas of rent, mortgage, utilities and medical bills. The fund was established in 1990 during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Since that time, the fund has helped hundreds of New Hampshire military families in need. Any person currently serving as a member of a military unit located in New Hamp
shire, or any currently serving military member with a "home of record" in New Hampshire, is eligible for the fund. Grants are for temporary financial assistance, and are not available on an ongoing basis. Grants are gifts, not loans. Money for the fund comes solely from individual and corporate contributions. You may apply for the fund by sending us a message. The fund is managed by volunteer trustees, all of whom are New Hampshire Army or Air National Guard chaplains. All of those giving their time for the fund are volunteers. Of the money received as donations, 99.5 percent goes directly toward emergency assistance. The fund is a private, not-for-profit fund and is registered with the Internal Revenue Service and the New Hampshire attorney general's office. It is tax exempt under 501 c.3 with the identification No. 02-04445602, so all donations to the fund are tax deductible.
