Field days are on-farm learning programs that bring together farmers, home growers, and organic advocates to explore practical topics in agriculture. This year, we have a wide variety of events planned. Topics explored include cover cropping, low tunnels, nutrient cycling, climate resilience, no-till systems, forest farming, poultry production, and the making of a deep winter greenhouse. Gain new knowledge from farmers, and explore different methods of farming across the state!

These gatherings offer a chance to see farming practices in action, ask questions, and connect with others who share a commitment to sustainable growing. Each program focuses on knowledge-sharing, community building, and supporting one another through real-world experiences in the field. Learn more and register at https://www.nofanh.org/fielddays

Join us for a farmer listening session focused on helping organic growers better understand and access conservation programs through the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Learn who to contact, the steps involved in working with NRCS, and how to navigate available conservation assistance and funding opportunities.

Presented by Catherine Coverdale of the Xerces Society and Colene Reed of Oregon Tilth, this session will explore conservation practices commonly used on organic farms, highlighting conservation opportunities that are particularly well-suited for organic producers in New Hampshire.

Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions about working with NRCS programs. Whether you are new to conservation planning or have previously participated in NRCS programs, this session offers valuable information and peer learning for organic producers across the state. There is a forest full of opportunity out there for farmers in the practice of agroforestry. Agroforestry allows farmers to experiment with new farming techniques while also benefiting the local environment. This blog will cover the basic definition and help guide farmers to ways they can start to implement this practice on their farm.

"Agroforestry is not a modern concept, but a reintroduction of traditional knowledge. By combining forestry, pasture, and crops into one system, agroforestry mimics structures found in nature to best utilize space and production systems. By having each element build off each other, through the exchange of water, nutrients, and space, all parts are part of a whole." These blogs are here to use as a tool to grow your organic production knowledge.

Blogs include video resources and articles created by respected scientists, farmers, and horticulturists. Visit www.nofanh.org/resources-for-farmers to read the full blog and learn more about different agroforestry techniques.

Keep an eye out as we continue to release more topics! We welcome your input to make this a truly grassroots effort and help grow this resource by sharing information, resources, and insights.
