The children’s literature world is a crazy business. I’ve gone four years without signing a single contract - four long, painstaking years - and now I just signed my second one in two weeks!

Looking forward to sharing the details of both of these in the upcoming months. Until then, I’ve got more subbing to do. ;)

Had another fantastic night talking to students and parents about at Alton Central school’s annual Expo! All sorts of careers, vocations, and interests were on display and I even got to say hi to Zulu the monitor lizard - she’s a good girl.

Kids had fun coloring Gouldian finches, creating their own constellations, and learning how to make origami sea turtles! Many thanks to Scott, Kelly, and all the student volunteers who helped make this happen.

It has taken us a week, but we finally have Internet and Wi-Fi! (Whew - what an ordeal) So I’m now finally able to share this wonderful blog post from my friend !
