✨ A Parent Success Story ✨
One of the greatest joys of this work is watching students grow not only in their reading and spelling skills, but also in their confidence. 💛
Here’s what Zoe’s mom, Kristin, shared:
“Zoe has persevered through all of her struggles and is now proud of her writing and reading on grade level. She has rebuilt a lot of her self-esteem and overcome much of the stigma she felt as a person with Dyslexia.
If your child is struggling, please believe that there are better systems available to help them. Erin at Deciphering Dyslexia has many wonderful tutors and resources available. She and her team are the reason my daughter is succeeding now, and we are beyond grateful for her help.”
Thank you, Kristin, for your kind words. We are so proud of Zoe and all she has accomplished! ❤️📚

One of the most common things I see in struggling readers is not a lack of intelligence, it’s a lack of decoding skills. 💛
I’ve worked with so many bright, hardworking kids who hit a wall in reading. Not because they aren’t capable, but because they’ve been relying on guessing for far too long.
When students learn how to decode words instead of guessing at them, everything starts to change. 📚✨
Reading becomes less frustrating. Confidence grows. And they begin to see themselves as successful learners.
That’s one of my favorite moments to witness as a tutor.

✨ A Word From One of Our Tutors: Dianne ✨
One of the things I love most about our tutors is that each one brings their own unique experiences, passions, and heart to the work they do.
For Dianne, one book has remained especially meaningful throughout her life. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. She received it as a gift while earning her college degree, and its themes of generosity, compassion, and giving of oneself have stayed with her ever since.✨
Those same values show up in the way she works with her students today. Dianne believes every child is unique, capable, and deserving of support and encouragement. She knows that meaningful growth happens when students feel understood and valued.
It’s tutors like Dianne who make such a difference in the lives of the students and families we serve. 📚❤️

If your child is struggling to read, I want to speak to the parent who wonders if they should have done something differently. ❤️
Maybe you’ve questioned whether you missed the signs.
Maybe you’ve wondered if you should have started helping sooner.
Maybe you’ve worried that somehow you’ve let your child down.
Please hear me when I say this.
You did not cause this.
You didn’t fail your child. You didn’t miss a lesson. You didn’t do anything wrong.
Some children simply learn differently, and often they just need instruction that matches the way their brain learns.
I’ve seen it happen over and over again. Struggling readers becoming confident readers once they receive the right support.
There is hope. And there are answers.

“I’m not disabled by dyslexia. I’m empowered by it.”
When most people think about dyslexia, they focus on the challenges. But what often gets overlooked are the incredible strengths that many dyslexic individuals possess.
Many entrepreneurs, innovators, and business owners have dyslexia. Why? Because they often think differently. They are problem-solvers, visionaries, big-picture thinkers, and risk-takers who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo.
Their brains may process information differently, but that difference can become a tremendous strength.
At You Can Read, we believe it’s important for students to understand that dyslexia does not define their potential. Reading may be difficult right now, but their creativity, intelligence, determination, and unique way of thinking are gifts worth celebrating.
Different doesn’t mean less. Sometimes, different is exactly what changes the world. ✨

This guy right here!☺️
Watching Uriah’s journey over the years has been such a privilege.
Today, he’s a graduate of the Barton Reading & Spelling System, dual-enrolled in high school and college, a high school graduate, and soon-to-be college graduate. What an incredible accomplishment! 🎓
Jamie and I are so proud of the hardworking, kind, funny, and determined young man he has become. None of these achievements happened overnight. They are the result of years of effort, perseverance, and a willingness to keep moving forward even when things were challenging.
One of the greatest joys of my work is watching students grow in confidence and begin to see just how capable they truly are. Uriah is a wonderful example of what can happen when a student is given the right tools, support, and encouragement along the way.
Congratulations, Uriah! We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see where life takes you next ✨🎉

There are moments when I think back to when my son was young and struggling to read and spell.
I remember the worry. The questions that kept me up at night. The fear of not knowing how to help.
Why was reading so hard for him? Was I doing enough? Where could I turn for answers? What would his future look like if he never learned to read confidently?
As a mom, feeling helpless when your child is struggling is heartbreaking. I know what it’s like to watch your child work incredibly hard and still find reading difficult.
But I also know this. There is hope. 💛
My son’s journey is what led me to become a dyslexia tutor. Today, I have the privilege of helping students discover that they are capable, intelligent, and able to learn when they are taught in a way that works with their brain, not against it.
If you’re concerned about your child’s reading or spelling, I’d love to hear your story. Tell me about your child, their strengths, and the challenges you’re seeing. You don’t have to navigate this journey alone.
There is hope. There are answers. And there is support available. 📚❤️

Behind every breakthrough moment is a team that truly cares✨
Our tutors bring so much more than training and knowledge to each session. They bring patience, encouragement, compassion, and a deep belief that every child can learn.
We know reading struggles can affect a child’s confidence in such a big way. That’s why we walk alongside our students step by step and helping them begin to see what they’re truly capable of 📚
Watching a child go from frustrated and discouraged to confident and proud of themselves is one of the greatest gifts of this work ❤️

If your child is constantly guessing at words while reading, please hear this first.
They are not lazy.
They are not “just not trying.”
And they are not incapable.
In fact, most struggling readers are working very hard 💛
Often, children guess at words because they haven’t yet been taught how to truly decode and break words down in a way that makes sense to their brain.
The encouraging part? That can change.
With the right instruction and support, guessing can slowly turn into confidence, and reading can start to feel less frustrating and overwhelming 📚

Did you know dyslexia often runs in families?
Many parents I talk to start connecting the dots once their child begins struggling with reading or spelling.
Maybe reading felt hard for you growing up.
Maybe spelling never came easily.
Maybe you still avoid reading out loud or second guess yourself when writing.
If that sounds familiar, you are not alone, and there’s a strong chance your child may share that same learning difference.
But here’s the encouraging part 💛
We understand dyslexia so much more today than we did a generation ago. Children now have access to structured, evidence-based support that can truly change the trajectory of their confidence and learning.
Early support matters. And with the right tools, struggling readers can absolutely thrive 📚
