~Summer Art Bootcamp Recap~
We had an amazing time! This summer for our art bootcamp students got to work on clay figures, varies paintings and learn the techniques to creating a collective documentary together. Thank you to all the students for joining us, we had a blast hanging out with you all.

We’re starting off the month with Community Workshops! This upcoming Friday August 7th!
We will do a Cyanotype Workshop, we will provide all materials and all ages welcome ☀️
Our second workshop we are doing a wall candle holder where you get to come in and paint them! Some beautiful decor for your space at home.
Continuing the month with our monthly photo walks with Developed In Compton | Film Lab stay tuned for time and location!
And to finish off the month we are hosting a If These Streets Could Talk Workshop” lets in-vision a Neighborhood together with a zine making workshop✂️

Weaving Art + Stories of Peace From Coast to Coast
Are you passionate about art, storytelling, leadership, and creating positive change in your community?
Color Compton is seeking 5 dedicated youth fellows to participate in the L.O.O.M. (Legacies of Organizing Memory) Fellowship, a transformative two-year partnership with the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.
The L.O.O.M. Fellowship brings together young artists, storytellers, educators, and community leaders from both coasts to explore how art and storytelling can promote healing, preserve community memory, and inspire peace and justice.
Fellowship Commitment:

Dates: July 6–10, 2026
Time: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM daily
Location: Color Compton
Facilitated by: Louis D. Brown Peace Institute
This is a two-year fellowship designed for students who are excited to grow as artists, leaders, and changemakers. Selected fellows are expected to fully participate in the summer institute, attend fellowship gatherings throughout the program, and travel to Boston, MA in 2027!

This iteration of the Community Archive Fellowship is back for Summer 2026 and we’re looking for 8 committed image-makers ages 15–21 ready to go all the way.
6 weeks. 35mm film. Cyanotype. Family archives. A public exhibition in the city of Compton. And three framed works that tell the story of your block, your family, and yourself.
Thursdays 9am–1pm | July 2nd - August 8th

1st Week: June 22 - 26 🎨🖌️ A program dedicated to ages 8 - 12, Youth will explore a variety of art projects and learn how to connect art to story telling!
2nd Week: June 29 - July 03 📸 A program dedicated to ages 13 - 17. Youth will learn how to use film photography cameras & connect history + storytelling!

The Community Archive Fellowship Gallery opening was everything.🤎
13 weeks of work, love, and storytelling- all on the walls for the world to see. Seeing families, friends, and community come through to celebrate our fellows made it all worth it.
