Born on April 22, 1940, in Hull, Georgia, she graced the world with her kindness, hard work, and enduring spirit.
Betty dedicated many years of her life to the Harmony Grove Mill, where she contributed as a textile worker, embodying diligence and commitment. Her faith was an integral part of her life, reflected through her active membership at The Anchor Church of Ila in Danielsville, where she found community and spiritual strength.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Minish (Naomi), Jeffery Minish (Donna), and Joseph Minish (Karen), and daughters, Linda Horton (Roger), Sue Smith (Ralph), Brenda Fowler (Kenneth, deceased), who carried forward the values she instilled in them. She is also survived by an ever-growing family of 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews who were blessed by her loving presence.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Edgar Elisha Benton, and mother, Sara Elizabeth Wood Benton; her husband of 24 years, Stoy Minish; brothers Claude Benton, James Benton, and Basil Benton; sisters Pauline Collins and Sara Jo Brister; and grandson Jason Smith. Their memories are treasured, and their influence remains a profound part of Betty’s story.
Family, friends, and all whose lives Betty touched are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on June 20, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ivie Funeral Home, located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, GA 30529. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day, June 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the same location. Burial will follow at Jackson Memorial Gardens.

Dester Jane "Janie" Garrison, age 64 of Commerce, GA, passed away on May 20th, 2026 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Janie was born June 3rd, 1961 in Hall County, GA to the late William Carlton and Sarah Ruth Seagraves. She attended Commerce High School, and was a member of Blacks Creek Baptist Church. She loved writing poetry and some of her works were published in poetry books.
Janie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a caretaker to many, including family members and strangers alike. She had a huge heart and spirit. So many people cherished her for her kindness and giving nature.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles Garrison, her daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Curtis Noe, Son and daughter-in-law, Mack and Perla Garrison, grandchildren, preston and wife Breanna Noe, Auston Noe, Brycen and Breanne Garrison, Great-grandson, Camren Noe. Brothers, J.W. Seagraves and George Seagraves.
Although she had many nieces and nephews, two were very near and dear to her. Angela Osborne and Ayla Hernandez. They both remained by her side through her health battle.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Sarah Crowe, LuCreda Addis, Sheena Propes, Joan Hernandez, E.G. Seagraves, Mary Phillips and Alma Whitlock.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Rising officiating. Interment will follow at Grey Hill Cemetery.
