Officer Mabry made a traffic stop on a vehicle yesterday that lead to the arrest of both the driver and the passenger.

Charges include: Failure to Maintain Lane, Open Container, Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony x2, Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule 1, Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule 2 x4, Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule 4 x2, Possession of Drug Related Objects x2

On August 6, 2026, the Commerce Police Department arrested Robert Daniel Akers, 49, of Nicholson, following an investigation into allegations involving a juvenile.

Akers was charged with Aggravated Child Molestation, Child Molestation, Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes, and Sexual Battery Against a Child Under 16.

This investigation remains ongoing.

All persons charged with a criminal offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Commerce PD sends a big thank you to Barrow County Sheriff's Office and Jackson County Sheriff's Office for their assistance yesterday in helping our officers to find a missing 12 year old juvenile in our city! BCSO also utilized their K-9 unit, Handler Martinelli and her partner, Bowie, to find the juvenile. We are always thankful to work alongside our neighboring agencies!
