As a First Generation College graduate himself he knows the power a higher education had on his own life and the greater impact a college education can have on the larger community. INSPiRE Love: Today we honor and Celebrate our country’s newest Federal Holiday, Juneteenth. This day holds a historical and cultural significance in our country. President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, which ended slavery yet it took two and a half years for this news to arrive to the state of Texas on June 19, 1865. This holiday is a celebration of freedom, and a call to action to continue the ongoing struggle for fight of equality, and the fight for social justice. Although the chains of slavery were broken, the roots of those chains still manifest themselves through racism and oppression and they still run deep across our country. There is much more freedom to be won! ✊🏼💜

INSPiRE Leadership: Today, we want to honor and acknowledge our summer staff. They are the guardrails to providing a transformative experience for our Change Agents at the Institute. Our staff (Purple shirts), our Jr. Dream Directors (Blue shirts) and our 1st Year Trailblazers (Green shirts) spent countless hours to prepare and execute our Change Agent Institute. The work is hard, draining, physically and emotionally demanding but they rose to the occasion, as our team does year after year! This is what leadership looks like! ✊🏼💜
