Music provided me with a positive outlet even during some of the most difficult times in my life. I used music to overcome feelings of worthlessness as I was surviving Domestic Violence with my family or when we lived in a homeless shelter because my mom kept us safe. I listen to mu
sic when I think about my dad, in prison. It helps me in so many ways. I know I can be a role model and inspire young people the same way my role models like The Beatles, Anne Murray, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson to name a few. I want them to know that your past is your past, and young people should follow their dreams, they shouldn't fear judgment (even though it is a part of life) and they can know that they can be whoever they want to be. The decision is theirs. I have played in Central Ohio for the past few years including venues such as Community Festival, Kitamu Cafe and The Woodlands (A benefit I did this summer for abused and neglected children). I seem to be gaining momentum in my local venue. I am looking to expand my portfolio by accepting a personalized invitation to audition for a very popular television show, out of state. Jay Kent is an 18 year old musical artist from the west side of Columbus, Ohio. He has done multiple performances such as performing for the Mayor of Columbus, Mr. Michael Coleman. He's performed at ComFest, a local Festival in Columbus. He also has sang on stage opening for SCFMG (Doobie Bvndit, DJ Hylyte, Krash Minati and Moose FMG). The young artist has been on multiple televised programs, such as American Idol (Season 15), The Voice (Season 12) and several news programs. The emcee has done multiple musical features, with amazing artists including Lil G, Milligram, Jay Mills, NoSleepGvng Swave and KingxTut.
