Columbus is looking quite lovely today.

We saw (most of) the baseball game! First pitch was at 10:17pm - we left sometime after midnight. It was a bit bizarre that 90% of the concessions closed just before the game started, but what are you gonna do? Does it count as 2 games if it goes into Day 2?
Anyway, after sleeping in, we walked down to The Wharf to find some lunch. Fresh seafood for the win!

After the hottest, most turbulent flight of the year, we managed to see an old friend (from our Asia-travel Remote Year program) and get to the baseball game... which is in a rain delay! Just can’t make this stuff up! The area around the stadium is amazing now - not just dirt and chain link fences like the last time we were here.

Let’s try this again! Hoping to make it to the Washington Nationals game in DC tonight. Fingers crossed!

Update: Home. Flight canceled. I was able to call the three hotels we had booked and asked them to please not charge me, which they all agreed they would do. Thank you to the IHG brand for the excellent customer service (being a loyal 10-year Platinum level member didn’t hurt).
Back at it again! With all of the supply chain and staffing issues, getting to the airport early has become our norm, but today was super quick, like the good old days. Unfortunately, Starbucks isn’t open - how do we live in a world where the airport Starbucks isn’t open?!
Also, as you know, I got vaccinated as soon as I was eligible and I’m so glad I didn’t try to travel before that. Today, for example, our fellow travelers have decided they don’t need to wear their masks if they are talking on the phone or sitting in the gate area, which clearly isn’t the rule. But, I don’t actually care! You do you, fellow traveler - just don’t cause a scene and make me late!

Had some special guests in town to help us rediscover one of the best stadiums in America. Thankfully the rain held off. And apparently the Cup Snakes are multiplying...

What an amazing night for baseball! Cubs won, but the Indians really tried hard lol. Assuming this flight is on time, less than 24 hours from home-Chicago-home. Can you find the cup snakes in the outfield stands (we have apparently learned exactly nothing about how germs work...)?
