I am excited to present at the annual Homicide Research Working Group Conference being held at Arizona State University. This conference brings together homicide and violence researchers from all over the country. The work we do is hard but necessary and impactful.

Today I turn 33. Reflecting over my life thus far, I can say I am blessed and highly favored. I don’t take it for granted all that I have accomplished and all that I have. I’m looking forward to this year of growth and expansion. Becoming the woman I’ve always wanted to be.

I had a great Mother’s Day weekend! It’s still new to me being recognized as a mother, but I appreciate all the love shown to me from both sides of my family. This photo represents four generations of family and my maternal grandmother Hazel is going strong at 95 years. What a blessing. I hope one day my son knows how blessed he is to know all four grandparents and three great grandmothers.

Counting down the days until I can werk on the runway this year at Captivating. This was my walk from being a finalist for best dressed at the Captivator Awards last year. I’m excited for all that’s in store for this year 15th anniversary pageant. Who is ready! Let’s go!

Yesterday was a great pageant prep day. Thank you to Henri’s cloud nine for being a great sponsor for Captivating Pageants, giving us great wardrobe options and providing a space for our workshops. The mock and walk hosted by has me feeling great and there is still more work to be done!

It’s one of my favorite times of the year! It’s graduation season! My why and my reminder of how important it is to show up! I still am in awe that I’m all these students professor, and it brings me joy when they recognize me and smile and say thank you! I am grateful to be a part of their journey and I am proud of them as they enter into the workforce as much needed social workers!

Today April 29th is Denim Day, which is an international day to raise awareness for sexual violence prevention. This campaign started in 1999 as a protest to an Italian court overturning a r**e conviction, arguing that because the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped her attacker remove them. Today wear your denim to protest against victim-blaming myths and show solidarity with survivors of sexual assault.

Today I had the pleasure of serving as a judge for the Ms. Corporate America Michigan Pageant! Congrats to the winner Ms Ann Arbor, and congrats to all the contestants who put themselves out there. It was a great day and I am always honored to be asked to serve as a judge. Thank you to my Captivating sister queen for the recommendation and as well.
