Dear friends,

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that effective immediately, I will not be booking any photography sessions until further notice. This was not a quick decision for me. I have been praying about it since last fall. I LOVE what I do and I absolutely LOVE my clients!!! During the last 7 years, I have been blessed with the BEST clients!!! Unfortunately, this is not only a weekday job, but an evening and weekend one, too, which takes time away from my family. I have taken the last two summers off due to my daughters’ busy golf schedules, but I still end up feeling like I have missed out on valuable time with them during the spring and fall. Add to that the fact that my husband works out of town most weeks and the weekend is often the only time I have to see him!

As much as I truly love my clients, I feel that closing down my business ~ at least for now ~ is what I need to do. My oldest daughter is a junior in high school with only 1 ½ years before she heads off to college. The realization of how quickly time flies has been all too evident this past year. I hope that all of you understand my need to do this for me and my family.

Photography was my first love - beginning at age 10. It was a hobby for many years before deciding to do it professionally in 2009. It will always be something that I am passionate about. I hope to continue to learn and grow as a photographer because who knows if and when my heart may lead me back to my business again. But for now, I am taking the Michelle R Photography shingle down.

I don't typically post full family sneak peeks in the fall because I don't want to spoil any holiday card surprises. Now that Christmas has come and gone, here are just a a few family favorites from the fall...

As we are nearing Christmas, I wanted to share the photos I took of my own family for our 2015 Christmas card. My oldest, Kara, got her driver's license early this year, so I knew I wanted to incorporate a car. I also wanted to incorporate golf, so this is what I came up with. I rented this cool 1940 Plymouth, but wished we could have driven it home! What a cool car!!

A sneak peek of tonight's session... We started with family portraits and ended with some sweet photos of Emily and her horse. I'm so glad her mom suggested getting her horse in some of the photos!! Funny story... I had never met my clients before tonight, but it turns out the mom and I instantly recognized each other from chatting in the halls of the elementary school many times before; we were just never were formally introduced until tonight. :)
